Knot by ImrikDragon Knot by ImrikDragon
Etched Aluminum chainmail necklace made from three strands of European 6-1 braided together. Since there seems to be some confusion on this point, the chain is hand made. This means I started with just a spool of wire, wrapped and cut each ring, and then linked them together one by one.

Length: 15.5 inches
Link Count: 2,600

Wow! How long did you have to make each chain in order to braid that neatly?

That is gorgeous, although I fear that now that I have seen it, I will someday find myself making something vaguely similar...

I run into this problem far to often. See something amazing and want to make it myself, but don't want to copy them either :/

Exactly! I am new to Deviant Art, and so often my response is "that is gorgeous and I want to make one," but as you say, I don't want to be copying other people's projects.

I'm not brave enough to make my own rings, though. That is seriously hand-crafted.

awesome piece! looks like it took a lot of time.

might I suggest a lint roller? or digital editing? it will make the jewelry pop from the background and look even lovelier if the background is all black!

Hello, I wandered her from the forums. I was wondering what is involved in making this? You said it took more than 100 hours! :O !

I stared with just a spool of wire. The wire is wrapped around metal rods to make various sized coils. The coils are then cut with a jewelers saw to create the individual rings which are then linked together one by one.
